Modulr is an API platform which allows businesses to create a bespoke banking solution, simplifying complex payment flows. The Modulr platform does this by offering a variety of banking services via digital components known as modules. A business can select modules to suit their specific needs and create a tailored banking solution.

The fintech market is crowded. While the offering that Modulr created set them apart from other fintech businesses, the brand also required distinction. Our challenge was to recreate the Modulr brand and then bring it to life across an intuitive digital experience that informed and converted.

The Work

A Brand And Website That Flows

Accelerate began with the brand, distilling the offering and understanding the product benefits. Working with the Modulr team, we developed this thinking into a set of values that reflected the product and the people behind it. These values then guided our thinking, helping to create a tone for the brand and a visual expression.

The expression focused on flows created from blocks; a direct association to both the brand name and product. This concept was the driver for the identity and also the graphic treatment; the Mod-Blocks. The brand was enhanced with a digital-first colour pallet and isometric product visuals. The brand was then rolled out across all business publications and stationery as work then began on the digital experience.

The website began by defining the user experience and their needs. The content was architected to create an interactive and dynamic experience across multiple devices. The user interface and visual language was then designed to attract and convert. The website was developed on a Drupal CMS, using a Stylus Preprocessor to allow for agile development. Subtle animations and interactions were created using jQuery, highlighting engagement points and bringing the brand to life.

The Impact

Strength In Simplicity

Modulr has seen a number of positive reviews and comments following the launch of its brand and website. It is now standing tall against its competitors within the fintech market; with its clarity and beautifully simplistic design aesthetic.

The website has also seen a continual increase in users with an average month-on-month increase of 120% sessions, 102% of which are unique users. Session duration is also up by 200% while the bounce rate remains below 20%. The site has also seen a significant increase in organic traffic from Google and a continual growth in conversion.
